Course descriptions

Course numbers indicate level: 100–200 introductory undergraduate, 300–400 advanced undergraduate, and 500–600 graduate. Every course carries three credit hours unless otherwise noted.

General education

Required for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; satisfies written communication, quantitative reasoning, natural and physical science, social and behavioral science, and humanities requirements.

ENG 101Academic Writing and Research(3 credits)

This course develops foundational writing and research skills essential for academic and professional success. Students practice composing clear, organized documents, locating and evaluating sources, and integrating evidence into written work, with emphasis on grammar, clarity, citation practice, and audience awareness.

ENG 102Composition and Critical Analysis(3 credits)

Building on ENG 101, this course develops analytical reading and argumentative writing. Students evaluate the structure and credibility of written arguments, identify reasoning errors, and produce extended essays that advance a defensible thesis supported by documented evidence. Prerequisite: ENG 101.

MATH 101College Mathematics(3 credits)

This course covers mathematical concepts required for college-level study and professional practice. Topics include algebraic expressions and equations, linear and exponential functions, ratios and proportions, percentages, and financial mathematics including interest, annuities, and amortization.

STAT 201Business Statistics(3 credits)

Students study the collection, presentation, and interpretation of quantitative data in business contexts. Topics include descriptive statistics, probability, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, correlation, and simple linear regression, with emphasis on interpreting results for managerial decision-making. Prerequisite: MATH 101.

SOC 101Principles of Sociology(3 credits)
